Yannis Dimolitsas was born in Chania, Crete. He has directed a number of shorts showcased at international festivals and contemporary art museums, in addition to commercials and music videos. In 2023, his short film John Malkovich: The Music Critic (2023) premiered on Nowness. His first feature film, Maria Callas Monica Bellucci: An encounter (2023), starring Monica Bellucci, who won Protagonist of the Year in 2024 from the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists, premiered at the Rome Film Festival and was later presented at MoMA, San Sebastián, Marrakech, the Lumière Film Festival, and others. He is currently in pre-production on his upcoming feature film, set for 2027, while continuing to develop a body of work that reflects his distinctive creative vision.
